Credits & Usage
Understand the difference between uses and credits, and configure your pay-per-usage system.
Pickaxe offers two pay-per-usage systems to choose from. You can switch between them in the Settings page — this applies to your entire workspace, and you cannot use both at the same time.
Uses
With the uses system, one user input equals one use. It's simple and easy for your users to understand, though the actual AI cost behind each interaction can vary depending on the length and complexity of the conversation.
Credits
With the credits system, users pay per credits consumed, which maps more closely to the actual AI usage cost of each interaction. This lets you pass the direct cost of AI usage onto your users.
You can also adjust the cost per credit to add your own margin. For example, you might sell $10 worth of credits to a user while only spending $5 in actual AI usage — keeping the difference as revenue.
