Fallback models for everyone
Create an agent or open an existing agent in the builder, then follow the steps below. Model and feature availability may depend on your plan.
What it does
A workspace-level toggle that automatically retries a failed request on a backup model. On for every plan.
Before this
An expansion, and a gate coming off. Automatic retry on a backup model had been a Pro feature, and it was off by default. On 26 March it became available on every plan and on by default.
Why it matters
Provider outages stop being your outage. The user gets an answer instead of an error, and you find out later.
How it works
One switch, in Settings → Agent → Fallback Model, covering every agent in the workspace. When a model request fails, Pickaxe automatically retries on one of our fallback models rather than returning the error.
It is on every plan, which is the point: a provider outage is not something a smaller customer should have less protection against. The user gets an answer, and you find out from your logs rather than from a support email.
